OBC + SOC'S (Business Cases)

MTS has worked within a number of NHS Trusts in the development of the equipping elements of their OBC and SOC's. This assists Trusts greatly as the equipping information is more accurate than using ECAG + DECAGS. MTS utilises its own database of typical equipment in typical rooms and we also create equipment specifications to support the higher tech equipment pricing to give greater accuracy and accountability. Comparator provides for a robust public sector competitor and delivering additional value added benefits.

ADB and CodeBook Scheduling

MTS will take a Health Planner or Architects Schedule of Accomodation and load this into either ADB or Codebook. MTS has developed its own Room templates and typical equipment lists which have been developed from live projects over the last 11 years. ADB is the conduit, but the result is a more robust set of data for accurately scheduling differing types of facilities, i.e., Acute, PCT, Radiotherapy, Paediatrics, Mental Health, etc. These schedules can convert into data suitable for Procurement at a later date.

Equipment Responsibility Matrix

The provision of advice and allocation of the equipment to individual parties for responsibility within the project. This is essential when working on any contractural obligation between NHS Trust and Private Sector Partner and indeed can be further developed for the Partners Internal Team members i.e., ICT, FM, Construction, M+E etc.

Equipment Bills of Quantities (BOQ's)

For all projects it is essential to have an accurate list of all items to be procured, to show quantities and cost as well as a description and location for each item. The team is experienced at developing these BOQ's and pricing them according to whether the item specification is at the high end or low end of the market.

The costings can be obtained from the MTS database of live projects or substantiated through market testing when necessary. These costs can be provided for whole hospital projects and past developments. We have a great deal of reporting capability and costs can be reported bespoke to clients requirements.

Equipment Specifications

The development of generic equipment specifications for room design development and future procurement. These are linked to equipment related component codes. The specialist equipment requires the development of bespoke equipment specifications to substantiate cost models. These are all available from the MTS Database.

Asset Audits/Surveys

The equipping team has extensive equipment auditing experience capturing medical and non-medical equipment on a equipment database or (sql server).

This work includes equipment bar-coding, the development of asset condition and replacement assessments and transfer and re-commissioning costs (which can be substantial on the more complex equipment).

Information such as model No, serial No, location, fit for transfer categorisation such as Red, Amber, Green, colour, size, dimension, and life expectancy are all captured. MTS also provides costs for decommissioning and re-commissioing the equipment.

Equipment Procurement

This is the project management and preparation of the whole of the equipment portfolio for procurement. MTS is acting as advisors and internal procurement managers for a number of Trusts and Consortia. The objective is to realise savings from a robust plan and supplier negotiations, whilst working within complex commissioning and decant programmes. MTS also appoints and works with all suppliers and manufacturers and is completely independent.

Equipment Planning Programmes

The development of equipment and commissioning programs that reflect timescales for selecting equipment in accordance with design and construction requirements. MTS has provided significant advice in the interface between equipment and construction management.

This is managed by our own project managers, who utilise the bespoke management tool E-Quip.

Equipment Order Chasing

Once orders have been placed, our team work closely with the individual suppliers to develop the overall delivery programme and check regularly that this will be achieved. Prior to delivery on site the team will check that suppliers have method statements and procedures in place to minimise the risks associated with the delivery to site and ensure all goods arrive on time. This is managed through E-Quip which also links into the Trust or Consortia's own financial auditing tool.

Equipment Installation

Our experienced team will be able to provide Trusts and Consortia with the benefit of their experiences over recent large commissioning schemes but are also sensitive to the needs of smaller healthcare organisations.

Careful equipment installation plans are drawn up with long lead time equipment prioritised. Close liason with Construction and M&E is essential and our plans normally dovetail in with theirs. We also provide advice and plans for early installation equipment.

Equipment Post Project Evaluation & Review

Once a project is completed it is necessary to undertake a post project review and 'lessons learnt' analysis to ensure that all objectives have been met and any key issues that could be taken forward for future schemes have been identified. This is done by capturing the issues throughout the procurement or project and reviewed through a workshop or joint meeting.
