Catherine Holmes
After working in production and quality management for 8 years, Catherine joined the NHS in
1991 to be part of the Planning Department at Ipswich Hospital NHS Trust, a 750 bed acute hospital offering a wide
range of services. Catherine was responsible for project managing a variety of clinical and capital projects,
including construction, equipping and commissioning of several redevelopment schemes. Catherine was responsible
for managing the capital budget at the Trust of up to £6m annually and for developing business cases for
capital funding and service delivery projects. Catherine was also involved in a service review project for the
rationalisation of clinical services on to one site.
In 2000 Catherine was appointed as senior project manager for the new PFI hospital for
Norfolk & Norwich University NHS Trust. Her main responsibilities were to equip and commission the hospital,
managing a capital budget of £19m. Following this, Catherine then went to Barnet & Chase Farm Hospital
NHS Trust and worked on a variety of projects including staff accommodation, patient entertainment systems and a
feasibility study for the Breast Screening service in Edgware.
After leaving the NHS, Catherine joined Managed Technology Services (MTS) in 2003 as senior
project manager, responsible for projects including the implementation of a managed equipment service at the Whittington
Hospital NHS Trust, procurement projects with NHS LIFT schemes in East Hampshire and similar projects for mental health
trusts in the south and south west. Since joining Tribal Group, MTS have become involved in projects for education and
Catherine has managed the scheme to equip the Fashion Retail Academy.
More recently Catherine has produced an equipment strategy for University College London. Catherine
recently completed her MSc in Construction Project Management (Healthcare) which is the recognised qualification within
the NHS for Project Directors and has become registered as a PRINCE2 practitioner.
